Twelve Important Moments of 2012

Last year, we compiled a list of highlights of 2011. While a lot happened in 2012, they weren’t all highlights. Nonetheless, 2012 was a great year that was full of joy and change.

12 moments of 2012

  1. Experiencing Artists and Fleas as a vendor with Helene, working a grueling twelve hours to break even, and bidding PrelovedNYC adieu.
  2. Visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! :-D
  3. Kim FINALLY graduated and got her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. It was the end of an era.
  4. Celebrating my dad’s birthday in Ocean City, Maryland.
  5. Our two-week Costa Rica road trip in August, during which we celebrated our second wedding anniversary.
  6. My paternal grandfather died. I didn’t know him very well, but his passing left a void in my mother’s heart.
  7. Seeing Louis CK live for the first time! He did not disappoint. ;-)
  8. Thankful that our family and friends survived Hurricane Sandy and helping out in Red Hook with Forefront.
  9. Taking on my prediabetes and LOSING 15 POUNDS!
  10. The passing of my grandmother and last surviving grandparent in November.
  11. Getting my first tattoo in honor of my grandparents.
  12. Spending Christmas with ST’s family for the first time and adopting Leela!

At the end of 2011, I wanted to live simply, be at peace with others, and pray everyday. While I can’t say that I’ve achieved these goals, I think I’ve made progress toward them.

In 2013, ST and I are looking forward to so many things: traveling, purchasing our first home, and growing our little family.

What are you looking forward to in 2013?

i plan on dreaming bigger -- like getting tenure, becoming an expert in my field & a world renown researcher in helping moms nurse their babies, getting paid billions to speak and change public health policies, and becoming a board certified lactation consultant.

i remember being in high school and dreaming of living on todt hill. we had to do a faux resume and i put 88 todt hill (not even knowing where that was but 88 seemed like a good & lucky number). when we moved out to staten island and bought our first house, i would like on the carpet in my bedroom and look out the window pretending that i had a spectacular view that was unobstructed. due to the insurance money and our savings, we are in contract to buy a small fixer upper on todt hill and the address has an ’88′ in the house number. it’s a cliffhanger but it has an unobstructed view all the way out to the ocean. how coincidental is that?! i also don’t believe in coincidences ;)
